Introduction
This site tries to simplify the access of the course calendar of the ETH Zurich. It is possible to import certain lectures from the course catalogue, and then use the collected information further. The following export formats are supported:
- iCalendar: A standardized format for calendars, which can be imported in most calendar programs.
- timetable.stefanheule.com: Using this site, timetables can be created mostly automatic, still leaving the possibility to change details.
Why?
This alternative way to use the course catalogue can be beneficial in various ways. Examples include the following:
- Choose courses: For this you can import all the courses which you might wish to take, export them to iCalendar and view the result in a calendar program. This gives a good overview, and you can choose the courses in a way that avoid overlappings.
- Choose a GESS-course: Often, one already has his or her timetable, but would like to add a GESS-course. This site allows to import all GESS courses (possibly with some being deselected before exporting, e.g. all language courses). Now both the timetable and the GESS courses can be viewed side-a-side in a calendar program, allowing you to quickly cross of courses which overlap with your regular timetable.
- Create a timetable: As soon as you know what courses you will be taking, you can create your timetable, either using it as a calendar, or creating one on timetable.stefanheule.com.
- Detect changes in the VVZ: Once you have imported some courses from the course catalogue, these data can be reloaded at a later point in time. Afterwards, it is possible to view all changes (e.g. changes to the rooms) since the last update.
How?
If you would like to use this web application, you can create one (or more) so-called VVZ bundle. You can enter one or multiple links to the course catalogue of the ETH, which will then be searched for lectures. Then, you will be able to deselect courses (or single lectures) which you do not want to attend, and you can also export the result at any time.
Existing VVZ bundles
You don't have yet created an own VVZ bundle. Create new VVZ bundle.
There are also the following public VVZ bundles, which you can view and export, but not change in any way:
- Computer Science Semester 2 (Spring semester 2011)
- Computer Science Semester 4 (Spring semester 2011)
- Computer Science Semester 1 (Autumn semester 2010)
- Computer Science Semester 3 (Autumn semester 2010)
